Exercise Problem !

On page 168 there is an exercise I have it understood up to step 8. I'm using different images one of my pictures is a boat and the other is a sky but there not the ones from the CD. At step 8 my Blend IF layer which is the boat has the threshold applied but all I'm seeing is a black boat caused by threshold. Then under that is my skylayer then below that is my master layer and so my question is how do I fix the Blend If layer so that as in the exercise I see a boat not a black boat which is caused by the threshold effect ?

If you have not tried it yet, do the example with the image from the book and be sure you understand what is going on. Then try going through the steps with the image from the book AND your own image at the same time (do one step to the image from the book and then follow up doing that step to your image). Be sure what you are trying to accomplish is what the technique was meant to do.
